Thank you to everyone who participated in the BME Parliament initiative, whether at the Study Visit, regional workshops or final Parliament event - or all of the above.
It would really help us if all participants would fill in a short evaluation survey, so we can make the next BME Parliament even better. You can access the survey here
What: The Minority Ethnic Parliament (MEP) is a NICEM initiative to further connect BME communities to political institutions and processes, to increase participation, and to build on work already done by local communities.
It will consist of a Study Visit in January (already completed), regional workshops in February-March 2014, and the final Parliament on Thursday 1 May 2014
Workshops:
Belfast When: 22 February, 12.00 - 16.00
NICEM offices
Topic: Access to education, training and employment
Craigavon When: 26 March, 10.00 – 14.00,
Brownlow Community Hub, Craigavon
Topic: Childcare
L/Derry When: 6 March, 17.30 - 20.30
NICEM North West office
Topic: Hate crime
Why? In 2013 there were three regional Questions that Matter events which connected BME communities with local politicians on issues that are important to them. We’ve been working on highlighting those issues throughout the year, and this initiative is designed to take some of the key issues arising from the regions at those and other events and further push politicians to make changes.
