“So you think you know who you are.”
Check out your ethnic identity processes in relation to these themes:
- Cultural/ethnic heritage
- Ethnic and cultural relationships
- Hate crime
- Exclusion from full citizenship
- Personal attributes
Tell us where you stand on these issues. The workshop is aimed at senior experienced participants with responsibility for directing and carrying out investigations to do with inter-cultural issues where diverse ethnic heritages predominate. It is firmly grounded as evidence-based in a manner that assesses underlying developmental and socio-psychological identity processes that goes beyond ‘tick-box’ and traditional psychometric and questionnaire approaches.
The ISA approach is generic, hence can be applied across the whole range of societal and community concerns, such as education, and social and health services. It is able to assess underlying developmental and socio-psychological processes pertaining to notions of self and identity in an unobtrusive fashion, without asking any direct questions. Because the identity instruments used are created for the investigation of interest, the knowledge and skills of the investigator are drawn upon for customisation of instruments to the investigation. The text used in an identity instrument is customised to the vernacular of the participants in a particular study. The customisation enables bespoke instruments to be generated for any age group and for any ethnic heritage and for any cultural or subcultural group.
